World Meeting of Families 2015 Philadelphia
Held every three years and sponsored by the Holy See’s Pontifical Council for the Family, the World Meeting of Families is the world’s largest Catholic gathering of families. Each World Meeting of Families has a theme that energizes and enlivens the event while adding great depth of meaning to our understanding of families. The theme of the World Meeting of Families, Philadelphia 2015 is “Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive,” emphasizing the impact of the love and life of families on our society. RE Directory Nancy McKnight and her husband Mark were privileged to be in Philadelphia with Marks' brother and his wife during the event. Nancy served as a volunteer in the area of guest services for the Papal Festival of Families on Saturday, September 26, and for the Papal Celebration of the Mass on September 27. In preparation for her trip, she purchased a custom flag with the phrase "Holy Father, Pray for Us," which parishioners signed while offering their prayer intentions. Nancy carried the flag with her to the Papal events and had it blessed. The flag now hangs in our church narthex to remind everyone in our parish family that "Love is Our Mission." After she returned, Nancy shared a Powerpoint presentation with pictures from her trip for the Senior Socialite gathering on October 8. Below are pictures from her trip.
