Please take the time to read about the music ministries
you may join here at St. Philip the Apostle Parish! "Those who wish to sing will find a song." (Danish proverb) The Adult Choir is open to all adults beginning at high school age. It sings weekly at Mass (varying times) on Sundays from September to the end of the Easter Season, plus on many Holy Days of Obligation. We welcome new singers and instrumentalists (woodwind, brass, string). Practices are on Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the church. CHILDREN'S CHOIR: We have sectional rehearsals for singers who attend St Philip the Apostle School and singers who attend Wednesday religious education classes. RE singers rehearse on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.in the church; school singers rehearse on Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the church. The Resurrection Choir is open to all who are able to sing at funeral Masses during the week and/or weekend. Funeral Masses generally take place in the mid/late morning hours. There are no rehearsals, and the commitment is based solely on what your time will allow. This can be perfect for retirees and stay-at-home parents. The Contempo Choir is open to all adults interested in singing familiar and newer contemporary liturgical music. We welcome singers and instrumentalists (woodwind, string, brass, guitar) as well. The Contempo Choir sings at one Mass (Saturday at 5:00 p.m.) each month. Practices are generally twice a month on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the church. CANTORS: Open to those who can commit to 1-2 Masses per month in which they lead the congregation in song. INSTRUMENTALISTS: Time commitment is based on individual availability. Why get involved? To serve God; to minister in your parish; to meet new people; to become part of another community; to share your musical talents. |
